Seven killed as Gondola cables snaps in Jammu and Kashmir’s Gulmarg

Five people are reported to have died after a Gondola cable snapped in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday. A number of tourists have also been stranded in the other cable cars on the Gondola line. According to reports, strong winds caused trees to fall on the cables, snapping the cables as they fell. Rescue operations are currently underway to rescue the stranded tourists.

The Gondola cable cars are popular attractions for tourists visiting Gulmarg. The cable cars are operated by the J&K State Cable Car Corporation. This incident could lead to a review of the maintenance and safety practices being carried out by the company.
