At least 8 people have died, 12 Injured and several others are feared missing after a massive landslide struck Nagaland’s Mon district amid heavy rainfall, officials said. The continuous rain also triggered flash floods in parts of the region, causing further damage.
Mon Deputy Commissioner Wennyei Konyak said that eight people are feared dead in the landslide. Rescue teams have so far recovered bodies from the debris, while large-scale search and rescue operations are underway to locate the remaining victims.
The landslide occurred as heavy rains battered the area, leading to dangerous conditions and disruption in normal life.
Authorities are continuing efforts to clear the debris and search for those who may still be trapped.
