On Friday, June 13, Air India Flight AI379, en route from Phuket, Thailand, to Delhi, made an emergency landing after receiving a bomb threat mid-flight, Reuters reported, citing Phuket airport officials.
The aircraft, carrying 156 passengers, landed safely at Phuket International Airport at 10:47 AM local time and is undergoing mandatory security checks, officials confirmed to Reuters.
Passengers were safely evacuated from Flight AI379, in accordance with emergency protocols, an Airports of Thailand official stated.
The flight departed Phuket at 9:30 AM but turned back over the Andaman Sea shortly after takeoff, returning to the island due to the threat.
This incident follows the tragic Air India Flight AI171 crash in Ahmedabad on June 12, which claimed 265–269 lives shortly after takeoff.
Reuters also reported a surge in bomb threat hoaxes targeting Indian airlines and airports, with nearly 1,000 false threats recorded in the first ten months of 2025—almost ten times the number in 2023.
