Akshay Kumar Joins Rohit Shetty’s Golmaal 5

Date:

Mumbai – Actor Akshay Kumar has officially joined the cast of the fifth installment of the Golmaal franchise, marking a significant expansion for the comedy series. The announcement was made on Saturday to coincide with filmmaker Rohit Shetty’s birthday. Kumar shared a promotional video confirming his involvement, which features him in a new look characterized by a shaved head and a black traditional outfit.

The production has already commenced in Mumbai with a schedule that reportedly involves Kumar for approximately 18 days of filming. He will appear alongside franchise regulars Ajay Devgn, Arshad Warsi, Tusshar Kapoor, Shreyas Talpade, and Kunal Kemmu. Sharman Joshi, who appeared in the 2006 original but was absent from the sequels, is also confirmed to return.

Sources close to the production indicate that Kumar’s character will serve as a primary foil to Devgn’s Gopal, focusing on a slapstick rivalry. This collaboration follows the duo’s recent appearances together in Shetty’s “Cop Universe” films. While the franchise is known for its ensemble cast, the addition of Kumar represents a strategic shift toward a multi-starrer format featuring two of the industry’s most prominent leading men. Golmaal 5 is scheduled for a theatrical release in 2027, maintaining the series’ long-standing association with large-scale commercial cinema.
