Apple Reveals Pay Packages for CEO John Ternus, Executive Chairman Tim Cook

New Delhi: Apple has disclosed the compensation packages for new CEO John Ternus and executive chairman Tim Cook, marking a major leadership transition at the technology giant.

Ternus, who took over as CEO on September 1, will receive a target package of about $58 million (around Rs 551 crore) for fiscal 2027. It includes a $3 million annual salary and $55 million in stock awards. He will also receive about $2.5 million in prorated restricted stock units for fiscal 2026.

About 75% of Ternus’ 2027 stock award will be performance-based, linked to Apple’s total shareholder return against S&P 500 companies, while the remaining 25% will vest over four years.

Cook’s package as executive chairman will total about $47 million (around Rs 446 crore), including a $2 million salary and $45 million in stock awards.

Half of his equity award will be performance-based and the rest will vest over four years. Cook will retain awarded shares after retirement, subject to their original vesting schedules.

Cook earned $74.3 million as CEO in 2025, including $3 million salary, $12 million in cash incentives and $57.5 million in stock awards.

Ternus, 51, succeeds Cook after his 15-year tenure. Cook became CEO in 2011 after succeeding co-founder Steve Jobs.

During his tenure, Apple’s valuation grew from about $350 billion to more than $4.5 trillion.
