New Delhi: Elon Musk’s X, formerly known as Twitter, has introduced video and audio calling features. As of now, these features are exclusive to X Premium (Twitter Blue) users on iOS, with plans to extend availability to Android users in the near future.
“We’re launching a new means of communication on X, Audio and Video Calling. Audio and Video calling is now available on iOS and will soon be available on Android,” said in its post on the platform
It’s also important to mention that even if you’re using X for free, you can receive calls. You have control over who can call you by adjusting your Direct Messaging settings. However, there’s a requirement: for a call to be initiated, both parties must have exchanged Direct Messages at least once.
Back in August, Musk announced the upcoming addition of voice and video calls to X, as part of the transformation of the former Twitter into a versatile app. These features will be available on iPhones, Android phones, Mac computers, and standard PCs, eliminating the need for a phone number to utilize them.
To adjust your calling preferences on X, follow these steps: Start by tapping the envelope icon to enter your messages. Next, tap the settings icon located in the top right corner to access your Messages settings. Within these settings, you have the option to enable or disable the audio and video calling feature. If you opt to enable it, you can customize who has the ability to call you, including individuals in your address book, those you follow, and verified users.
