The next chapter in Matt Reeves’ “Batman” series is set to begin filming next year, according to co-writer Mattson Tomlin. The Warner Bros. project, which has reportedly experienced production delays, will continue the story from the 2022 film ‘The Batman,’ where Robert Pattinson portrayed the Dark Knight, along with Zoe Kravitz, Colin Farrell, and Jeffrey Wright playing significant roles.
Tomlin, who teamed up with Reeves to write the script for ‘The Batman Part II,’ talked about the high expectations surrounding the film, stating that the “bar just couldn’t be higher.” Warner Bros officially announced the sequel during a CinemaCon event in 2022, just a month after the first film debuted in theaters.
“The Batman” revolves Pattinson’s character as he fights crime in Gotham City, having spent two years uncovering corruption while hunting down the Riddler, a serial killer targeting the city’s wealthy and powerful. The cast also included Kravitz as Selina Kyle/Catwoman, Wright as James Gordon, Farrell as Oswald Cobblepot/Penguin, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, Peter Sarsgaard as Gil Colson, and Andy Serkis as Alfred Pennyworth.
The film was a box office success, grossing over USD 750 million globally.
