‘Batwara 1947’ First Look Unveiled, Sunny Deol Starrer Gets August 14 Release Date

The makers of Batwara 1947 have released the film’s first-look teaser and announced its theatrical release date as August 14, 2026. Directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and backed by Aamir Khan Productions, the period drama is set during the Partition of India.

The teaser presents Sunny Deol in a powerful role, carrying a flaming torch with a determined expression. Preity Zinta, Karan Deol, Khushi Hajare and Shabana Azmi also appear in the first-look visuals, reflecting the tense and emotional atmosphere of the era.

The teaser is accompanied by an emotional background score composed by AR Rahman. Sharing the first look, the makers wrote, “In times of hatred and fear, he chose courage. Watch #Batwara1947 in theatres from 14th August 2026.”

The film features an ensemble cast including Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal, Abhimanyu Singh and Khushi Hajare. Originally titled Lahore 1947, the project was later renamed Batwara 1947.

Based on Asghar Wajahat’s acclaimed play Jis Lahore Nai Vekhya, O Jamya E Nai, the film is scheduled to release during the Independence Day weekend and will clash with Awarapan 2 at the box office.
