On Monday, the world woke up to the heartbreaking news of the passing away of the table maestro Zakir Hussain. The 73-year-old Grammy Award winner died at a San Francisco hospital from complications arising out of idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, the family said on Monday.
Tributes poured in from Bollywood artists like Zoya Akhtar, Akshay Kumar and Kareena Kapoor Khan.
The Khiladi called Ustad Zakir Hussain the “ Treasure for our county’s musical heritage.” And was “pained” to know about his death.
“Maestro forever,” Kareena Kapoor Khan paid tribute to the musician with a heartfelt image of herself, Zakir Hussain and her father, Randhir Kapoor.

In her post, she wrote, “On Feb 28th, ’24, when I last watched Ustad Zakir Hussain live at Prithvi Theatre, I recall my heart beating to the beats of the sheer flawless genius of his talent.
