Businessman Sunjay Kapur, the ex-husband of Bollywood actor Karisma Kapoor, passed away at the age of 53 on Wednesday after suffering a heart attack. The incident occurred while he was playing a game of polo, a sport he was deeply passionate about.
Kapur, who was currently married to model and entrepreneur Priya Sachdev, is survived by his two children from his previous marriage with Karisma — daughter Samaira and son Kiaan. He had been a well-known figure in both corporate and social circles, heading the Sona Group, an automotive component manufacturer.
Tragically, his last post on social media platform X was about another national calamity — the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad earlier today. In the post, he wrote, “Terrible news of the tragic Air India crash in Ahmedabad. My thoughts and prayers are with all the families affected. May they find strength in this difficult hour.”

Kapur and Karisma Kapoor tied the knot in 2003, but their marriage faced repeated turbulence. After years of legal disputes and public scrutiny, the couple finalized their divorce in 2016. Despite their differences, both remained involved in the upbringing of their children.
