Cameron Green Shatters IPL Auction Records as KKR Clinch Rs 25.20 Crore Deal

Date:

Australia all-rounder Cameron Green emerged as the biggest attraction of the IPL 2026 mini-auction, commanding a staggering ₹25.20 crore after an intense bidding battle. The 26-year-old was finally signed by three-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) on Tuesday at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi, making him the most expensive overseas cricketer in IPL history.

Green entered the auction with a base price of ₹2 crore and saw his value multiply more than twelve times. Although he was initially listed as a batter, Green clarified before the auction that it was a clerical mistake by his manager and confirmed he would bowl in the tournament as well.

The bidding opened with Mumbai Indians, despite their limited purse of just over ₹2 crore. Rajasthan Royals soon joined in, followed by KKR, who aggressively pushed the price upward. Royals stepped back when the bid touched ₹13.60 crore, but the contest was far from over as Chennai Super Kings entered the fray.

A fierce duel between CSK and KKR followed, with the price quickly crossing ₹18 crore. In the end, KKR outbid CSK to seal the deal at ₹25.20 crore. Green also set another record, attracting 117 bids—the most ever for a single player at an IPL auction.
