Cracks In Mamata’s Opposition Meet For Upcoming Presidential Polls

New Delhi: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will hold a key meeting with several opposition parties on Wednesday to discuss presidential polls and put up a united fight against the ruling party at the Centre.

According to reports, Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS) and Aam Aadmi Party will not attend the meeting amid her efforts to forge a consensus for alliance-backed candidates.

AAP sources confirmed that they will take a call on this issue once the candidates for the Presidential election are declared.

Maharashtra Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray confirmed last week that he will not attend the meeting as he is scheduled to be on a visit to Ayodhya.

CM Mamata Banerjee met NCP chief Sharad Pawar in Mumbai ahead of her visit to New Delhi. The presidential election is set to take place on July 18th and the results will be declared on July 21st.

AIMIM chief Assaduddin Owaisi on Wednesday said that he was invited to the meeting and said that he would not attend the meeting because they have invited Congress to be part of the discussion.

Mamata Banerjee is set to host HD Deve Gowda and his son, RJD’s Jayant Chaudhary, and PDP’s Chief Mehbooba Mufti. DMK’s TR Baalu and Shiv Sena’s Subhash Desai will attend the meeting. Samajwadi Party and National Conference will also take part in the meeting. CPI-M too confirmed that they are likely to attend the meeting.

Mamata Banerjee had earlier written a letter to 22 leaders, including left parties, Congress, and chiefs of opposition-ruled states to attend the meeting.
