A sudden wave of cold swept through Delhi on Sunday, pulling the minimum temperature down to 9°C. The steep drop, 4.5 degrees below normal, made it the city’s coldest November morning in three years, IMD data showed.

The last time the city experienced a lower minimum in November was on November 29, 2022, when temperatures slipped to 7.3°C. In comparison, Delhi’s lowest November temperatures in the following years were 9.2°C in 2023 and 9.5°C in 2024.
The IMD attributed the sharp decline to clear skies and calm winds, which allowed heat to escape quickly during the night. The weather also brought a distinct wintry feel to the city, marking what many residents described as the first real hint of the season.
With temperatures expected to stay low in the coming days, Delhiites are preparing for what appears to be an early onset of winter-like conditions this year.
