Novak Djokovic delivered a clinical performance at Wimbledon on Thursday, brushing aside Britain’s Daniel Evans in straight sets to advance to the third round of the prestigious Grand Slam. The seven-time Wimbledon champion dispatched Evans 6-3, 6-2, 6-0 in a one-sided contest that lasted just under two hours.

Facing Evans for the first time since his surprise defeat to the Briton at the Monte Carlo Masters in 2021, Djokovic showed no signs of vulnerability this time. The Serbian star neutralized Evans’ trademark slice backhand and dominated with his precision serving and relentless baseline play.
The 24-time Grand Slam winner, who is aiming for his eighth Wimbledon title, fired 46 winners compared to Evans’ 19 and broke his opponent’s serve repeatedly in a dominant display. Djokovic’s all-court prowess kept the Centre Court crowd largely subdued despite Evans being the home favourite.
Next up for Djokovic is an all-Serbian encounter against Miomir Kecmanovic, ranked No. 49 in the ATP standings. Kecmanovic booked his third-round spot after coming from a set down to defeat Jesper de Jong 1-6, 6-3, 6-2, 6-4.
Djokovic, who notched his 100th ATP Tour-level title in Geneva earlier this year, has improved his 2024 season record to 23 wins and eight losses. As the tournament progresses, the tennis legend remains firmly in contention to add another Wimbledon trophy to his illustrious collection.
