External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and German Foreign Minister Annalena Baerbock engaged in extensive discussions in Berlin on Tuesday, focusing on the India-Germany Strategic Partnership. Their meeting covered a broad range of topics including trade, defence, and security, reflecting the deepening relationship between the two nations.
EAM Jaishankar, who arrived in Berlin after participating in the inaugural India-Gulf Cooperation Council Ministerial Meeting in Saudi Arabia, highlighted the breadth of their discussions.

The meeting also covered the recent visit of Indian Prime Minister Modi to Ukraine and the ongoing Gaza conflict. EAM Jaishankar expressed optimism about advancing the EU-India Free Trade Agreement and highlighted the potential for accelerated negotiations with Germany’s support. Additionally, he proposed an early meeting of the Trade and Technology Council to further enhance bilateral cooperation.
On the defence front, EAM Jaishankar noted significant developments, including the first joint air exercises conducted this year and the planned visit of German naval ships to Goa next month. He underscored the growing collaboration between their defence industries and the mutual benefits derived from these exchanges.
Earlier in the day, EAM Jaishankar addressed the Annual Ambassadors’ Conference at the German Foreign Office, reinforcing the commitment to a stronger India-Germany partnership.
