Ed Sheeran broke his silence hours after his street performance was stopped by the Bengaluru police, sharing that he had prior permission to perform at Church Street. The British singer, on Sunday, took to his Instagram story to share a short statement where he wrote that they had “permission to busk” and that it was not just him “randomly turning up.”
“We had permission to busk, by the way. Hence, us playing in that exact spot was planned out beforehand. It wasn’t just us randomly turning up. All good though. See you at the show tonight x,” Sheeran wrote.
The singer’s live performance on Church Street was halted by the Bengaluru police on Sunday. The police stated that they had not given permission for the event, while Sheeran’s team claimed it was a brief act with prior approval. The video, which is going viral on the internet, shows the British singer beginning his song ‘Shape of You.’ However, within a minute, the police intervened and disconnected the cables.

Ed Sheeran is currently on his India tour and is set to perform in Bengaluru on Sunday. He has already performed in Hyderabad and Chennai. During his Chennai concert, he was joined on stage by legendary composer AR Rahman. The two performed a rendition of the classic song Urvashi.
