If there is a global pop sensation who has a ‘desi’ touch then it’s got to be British singer Ed Sheeran! The ‘Shape of You Star’ can impress your chacha, massi, tayaa ji and even Sharma ji by truly being Indian in his habits and attitude.
All About Give and Take
Ed Sheeran knows how to return a favour, just like desi maa’s etiquette of never returning an empty ‘dabba’. It must be replenished with her special dish because #LogKyaKahenge.

Similarly, the singer reciprocated this gesture and joined his “brother” Diljit Dosanjh on Sunday during his ongoing Dil-Luminati Tour in Birmingham. Within six months, this is the duo’s second blockbuster collaboration. FYI, Diljit Paaji surprised Mumbaikars when he sang his famous track “Lover” during Edd Sheeran’s Mumbai concert in March this year. The GOAT singer welcomed him in his Punjabi style, Ed Shareen aa gaya oye!
A ‘Perfect’ Businessman…
During an interview with an Indian newspaper, Ed Sheehan said, “Every time I come back here, it feels more and more exciting. The metric that you would have measured success by back in 2014, I would have no idea that people liked my music here. It wasn’t until coming here in 2015, that I realised for the first time that people really like my music here. Whereas now, it’s clear that India is my biggest market.”

Knowing India is his “biggest market,” Ed Sheeran took a leaf out of Phillip Kotler’s book on the economics of demand and supply. The singer left no mauka to collaborate with Indian artists. After Diljit Dosanjh, he joined ‘Channa Mereya’ singer Arijit Singh during his concert in London.
Desi Taste Buds
The songwriter enjoyed Indian food- from butter chicken to Ayushmann Khurrana’s Maa ke haath ki pinni. Ed Sheeran even tried his hand at cooking while he was in Mumbai. He and chef Sanjyot Kheer cooked up Mumbai’s favourite street-style Misal pav. The tangy, spicy dish soon became his new comfort food. In an interview, he also said he would be ‘butter masala’ if he were an Indian dish because ‘everyone liked it.’
