Fact Check: No! These weapons were not seized from a mosque

Date:

A picture collage has surfaced on the Internet in which a huge amount of weapons can be seen seized by police.

The claim attached to the picture is that the weapons are seized from a mosque in Gujarat.

The caption of the post read: “भारत की आजादी के लिए लड़ते-लड़ते आजाद ने अपने प्राणों की आहुति दे दी उनकी जान लेने वाला कोई विदेशी नागरिक नहीं इंडिया के ही कुछ दोगले लोग थे

(Translation- Azad gave his life to fight for India’s independence, the people who took his life wasn’t a foriegner, but some Indians.
The history is about to repeat itself, these weapons are seized from just one mosque in Gujarat to erase Hindus)

Fact check

When the fact-checkers at NewsMobile did a fact check, we found that the claim is FAKE.

On putting one of the pictures from the collage through Reverse Image Search, we found the original picture in an article by Gujaratheadline dated March 5, 2016.

The weapons were found from a novelty store near Indian Palace hotel of Kuchiabad in Gujarat. The police seized 257 swords and knives during a raid at the national highway.

Hence, the above information proves that the claim attached to the picture is fake and the weapons were not seized from a mosque.
