Guess who is back in Bollywood after an eight-year gap? If reports are to be believed, Pakistani actor Fawad Khan and Vaani Kapoor are filming Abir Gulaal in the UK.
The film is directed by Aarti S Bagdi and produced by Indian Stories, A Richer Lens and Aarjay Pictures. The producers include Vivek B Agrawal, Avantika Hari and Rakesh Sippy. It will be shot in the UK in October and November.
The director spoke to the media and shed light on the storyline. “The film explores the journey of two individuals who unintentionally help each other heal, with love blossoming as an unexpected consequence.”
Only a few weeks ago, Fawad Khan’s fans were looking forward to the release of the super-hit film the Maula Jatt in Indian theatres. But the release has been stalled.
The producers of Abir Gulaal were quoted in the media as saying, “Fawad has a massive global fan base, and we anticipate that audiences and his fans will wholeheartedly embrace this film, as it showcases him in his most endearing role yet. The chemistry between Fawad and Vaani is expected to light up the screen with their captivating performances and undeniable charm.”
Why The 8-Year Gap?
In 2019, after the Pulwama attack, the All Indian Cine Workers Association announced a ban on Pakistani actors and artists in India.
In 2016, the Indian Motion Picture Producers Association banned Pakistani actors, singers and technicians from working in India due to friction between the two countries.
