Foreign Embassies Extend Greetings On Hindi Diwas

Date:

As India observed Hindi Diwas on September 14, several foreign missions in the country joined in the celebration. Hindi Diwas commemorates the adoption of Hindi as one of India’s official languages, and foreign diplomats marked the occasion by showcasing their efforts to embrace the language and Indian culture.

The French Embassy shared a video of their spokesperson, Orlic, who is currently learning Hindi. Orlic expressed his admiration for India’s rich cultural diversity and highlighted the importance of learning Hindi to forge deeper connections with the people.

The British High Commission in India also joined the celebrations, extending greetings on Hindi Diwas with a post on X (formerly Twitter). Their message emphasized the importance of UK-India relations and encouraged followers to explore the latest updates on bilateral ties in Hindi on their official website.

The Israeli Embassy took a creative approach to the celebration, posting a video of their diplomats reenacting famous dialogues from popular Hindi films and series. The diplomats humorously delivered lines such as “Bol wo rahe hain, par shabd humare hain” from 3 Idiots, “Rehne do tumse nah ho payega” from Gangs of Wasseypur, and “Wo Stree hai kuch bhi kar sakti hai” from Stree, showing their growing familiarity with Hindi cinema.

The Australian High Commission took to social media to share a video featuring one of their Hindi-speaking diplomats. In the video, the diplomat recounted personal experiences where knowing Hindi helped him navigate his stay in India, underscoring the practical benefits of learning the language.
