World leaders have extended their heartfelt wishes, congratulating the Indian people as the country celebrates its 78th Independence Day. Earlier in the day, Prime Minister Narendra Modi hoisted the national flag at the Red Fort and delivered his 11th speech to the nation on Thursday, 15 August.
Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni extended her greetings to all Indians on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day.
“On the occasion of the 78th Independence Day, I would like to express my heartfelt wishes to the people of India, and especially to the many Indians who follow this page. Italy and India share an ever-stronger bond, and I am confident that together we will achieve great things. Our strategic partnership is an important pillar for the future. @narendramodi,” she said in her post on X.

Russian President Vladimir Putin extended greetings to India on its 78th Independence Day. “We attach great importance to the relations of a particularly privileged strategic partnership with India. I am confident that the consistent implementation of the agreements reached following our recent talks in Moscow will contribute to the further development of multifaceted Russian-Indian cooperation. This undoubtedly meets the interests of our friendly peoples and is in line with strengthening international stability and security.” Putin said in a statement.
Sweden’s Ambassador to India, Jan Thesleff extended best wishes on X (Formerly Twitter). “On the occasion of India’s Independence day, our best wishes to the People & Govt. of India: ‘As we join India in its Independence Day celebrations, we are proud to pursue cordial, in-depth, hands-on solid relations, serving India and Sweden alike,” Thesleff wrote on X.

The United States Secretary of State, Antony Blinken, extended wishes to India on the occasion of the 78th Independence Day.
“On behalf of the United States of America, I congratulate the people of India as they celebrate the anniversary of their country’s independence on August 15. On this momentous day, we celebrate the rich and diverse history of the Indian people and the bright future of US-Indian relations,” Blinken said in a press statement.
Norwegian Ambassador to India, May-Elin Stener extended wishes on Independence day. Stener shared a video on X and stated, “Happy Independence Day India! With love from Norway!” and also conveyed greetings in Hindi, “svtNtrtaa divs kii haardik shubhkaamnaaeN!”
