Various political leaders and business have expressed their viewpoints on the Union Budget presented by the Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on July 23. While some went on to praise the new policies, others simply commented on it being “meaningless.”
Samajwadi Party (SP) national president Akhilesh Yadav wrote on his X account, stating,“The 11th budget (of Modi government) has issues of unemployment, price rise, farmers, women, and youth missing…This budget too is a bundle of hopelessness; thank god even under such circumstances people are alive.”
On the other , TMC MP and actor Shatrughan Sinha praised the budget and the government for providing relief on cancer medicines and other life-saving drugs. He also expressed his happiness as a resident of Bihar regarding the announcement of new projects for the state.
Businessman Ashneer Grover referred to the Budget 2024 as “Boring, Lifeless and Meaningless”. Grover said, “watching another Ambani wedding function over this – would’ve been more value and better use of time”.
Shravan Shetty, managing director at Primus Partners, said, “The increase in long-term capital gain will have a negative while the intent to reduce the euphoria in the market is right. But we believe increasing the long term capital gain by 25% to 12.5% will lead to investments move towards unproductive assets like gold and real estate. For a growing economy like India increasing penetration of capital markets is critical and this measure will reduce the acceleration seen in this direction over last few years.”
Actor and Rajya Sabha MP Jaya Bachchan said, “I have no reaction; ye koi budget hai reaction karney wala? It is just drama. Promises that are kept on paper will never be implemented.”
