Gujarat: The Gujarat Health Department has intensified its monsoon preparedness and placed the entire state on high alert amid heavy rainfall, activating 24×7 control rooms across all 34 districts and eight municipal corporations to ensure a swift response to any public health emergency.
Under its comprehensive Monsoon Action Plan, the department has deployed rapid response teams, strengthened surveillance, and kept 1,496 ambulances on standby for emergencies. Authorities said no major public health emergency has been reported despite the ongoing heavy rains.
As part of preventive measures, the department has organised 6,868 medical camps, providing treatment to over 1.74 lakh people. Around 18,000 surveillance teams are conducting daily door-to-door monitoring to identify and contain potential disease outbreaks.
To prevent water-borne and vector-borne diseases, the state has distributed more than 1.05 crore chlorine tablets and initiated chemoprophylaxis for leptospirosis in vulnerable areas. Vector control operations have also been intensified to curb the spread of mosquito-borne illnesses.
The Health Department said it is closely monitoring the situation and coordinating with district authorities to ensure uninterrupted medical services, timely emergency response, and adequate healthcare support for residents affected by the monsoon.
Officials have urged citizens to follow health advisories and seek medical assistance promptly if required.
