Mumbai was battered by intense rainfall on Monday afternoon, prompting the India Meteorological Department (IMD) to issue an orange alert for the city and neighbouring Palghar, while a red alert — indicating extremely heavy rainfall — was sounded for Thane and Ratnagiri for the next three hours.
The downpour, which has persisted steadily for over two hours, disrupted normal life across Mumbai and its suburbs. Waterlogging was reported in several areas, while commuters faced snarled traffic and delayed public transport.

The IMD has predicted overcast skies with heavy rainfall expected in isolated parts of the city and suburbs over the next 24 hours. With the monsoon gaining momentum, civic authorities are on alert for potential flooding and infrastructure challenges.
Air India, anticipating disruptions, issued a travel advisory for passengers flying in and out of Mumbai. The airline has cautioned that the weather conditions may impact flight operations and urged passengers to check their flight status before heading to the airport.
