In a series of airstrikes, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced Monday that they successfully eliminated a prominent member of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) involved in the October 7 attacks and a senior Hezbollah commander in southern Lebanon.
In Gaza, an IDF airstrike targeted Ahmed Al-Dalu, a PIJ member and intelligence operative who reportedly took part in the deadly assault on Kibbutz Kfar Aza, where at least 52 Israelis were killed. Simultaneously, IDF ground troops advanced in southern Gaza’s Rafah area, targeting a facility believed to store landmines for attacks on Israeli forces. Airstrikes directed at the site neutralized a terrorist squad and destroyed the munitions cache.
Meanwhile, in Lebanon, another IDF strike killed Abu Ali Rida, a Hezbollah commander overseeing operations in Baraachit. Rida was reportedly instrumental in organizing rocket and anti-tank missile attacks on Israeli forces and managing Hezbollah operatives in the region.

Following the strike, IDF forces continued tactical raids in southern Lebanon, dismantling Hezbollah’s local infrastructure and seizing weapons caches. In a separate incident, troops eliminated a terrorist hiding near the border, triggering multiple explosions in the structure and indicating a significant weapons storage.
The escalation follows Hezbollah’s repeated cross-border rocket and drone attacks on northern Israeli communities, which began after Hamas launched a large-scale assault on Israel on October 7, 2023. The attacks have displaced more than 68,000 residents in northern Israel, with Hezbollah leaders maintaining that these operations are intended to prevent Israelis from returning.
