New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued district-wise weather warnings for several states, predicting thunderstorms, lightning, heavy rainfall and gusty winds over the next two to three hours.
A Red Warning has been issued for Punjab’s Patiala district, indicating severe weather conditions requiring immediate action. Orange Alerts have been issued for multiple districts where thunderstorms, lightning, winds of 40-60 kmph and moderate to heavy rainfall are likely.
The affected areas include parts of Punjab, Uttar Pradesh, Kerala, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Manipur, West Bengal, Nagaland, Assam, Haryana and Uttarakhand. The IMD has advised residents to remain alert and follow safety precautions.
Heavy rains continued in northern Kerala, causing flooding in low-lying areas of Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Kozhikode. Several people were shifted to relief camps after water entered homes. Kerala Tourism Minister P C Vishnunadh said special measures would be taken to restore lost documents and provide study materials to affected children.
In Delhi-NCR, moderate rainfall is expected, with light rain recorded at several stations. Arunachal Pradesh is also likely to witness heavy rain and thunderstorms on August 4 and 5.
Uttar Pradesh, which has recorded 29 per cent below-normal monsoon rainfall so far, is expected to receive intense rainfall in the next four to five days.
Meanwhile, Himachal Pradesh continues to face monsoon disruptions, with 109 roads blocked and several power and water supply systems affected.
