New Delhi: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued heavy rain alerts for several parts of North and South India, including Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Chandigarh, Punjab and east Uttar Pradesh.
The national capital is under a yellow alert, with a generally cloudy sky and moderate rain expected. Temperatures are likely to remain around 33°C maximum and 24°C minimum.
The IMD has forecast widespread rainfall in these regions from August 4 to 6, with Delhi likely to witness rain activity till August 10.
In Kerala, the monsoon situation remains severe, with Chief Minister V D Satheesan stating that 26 people have died in rain-related incidents, 11 have been injured and four are missing. A total of 462 relief camps have been set up across the state, sheltering 27,048 affected people. Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Alappuzha have the highest number of camps.
Heavy rains have continued to disrupt normal life in Kerala, with flooding reported in low-lying areas and more evacuations underway.
Odisha is also expected to witness a wet spell from August 5 to 10, while flood-affected areas in Jajpur, Bhadrak and Jagatsinghpur remain cut off due to submerged roads.
In Himachal Pradesh, monsoon rains have blocked 153 roads, disrupted 191 power transformers and affected 58 water supply schemes, with restoration work underway.
