India Defeat South Africa by 7 Wickets, Go 2–1 Up in T20I Series

Date:

India continued their strong form in the T20I series against South Africa, registering a convincing seven-wicket victory in the third match at the HPCA Stadium on Sunday to take a 2–1 lead in the five-match series.

After winning the toss, India chose to bowl and delivered a disciplined performance to restrict South Africa to 117 for 9 in 20 overs. Aiden Markram stood out for the visitors with a resilient half-century, but the rest of the batting line-up struggled to cope with India’s controlled bowling. Arshdeep Singh and the spinners kept the pressure on, preventing South Africa from building any significant partnerships.

India’s chase was smooth and assured. The openers provided a positive start before the middle order took charge to guide the team to 120 for 3 in 15.5 overs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav remained composed at the crease and ensured there were no late setbacks.

The match also saw Hardik Pandya achieve a historic milestone, becoming the first Indian to complete 1,000 runs and 100 wickets in T20 Internationals.

With momentum now firmly on their side, India will look to seal the series in the remaining matches, while South Africa face a must-win situation in the next game.
