Hillang Yajik, a 25-year-old bodybuilder from Arunachal Pradesh, has etched her name in the history books by clinching a gold and a silver medal at the 15th South Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championships 2025, held in Thimphu, Bhutan. With this remarkable feat, she becomes the first woman from the northeastern state to win an international gold in bodybuilding.
Her journey to the international stage began last year when she was selected to represent India at the 56th Asian Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Championship. She also competed in the 15th WBPF World Championship, demonstrating steady progress and resilience in the sport.
Hailing from Kurung Kumey district, Yajik earned her place at these prestigious competitions through selection trials organized by the Indian Body Builders Federation and the Bodybuilding Association of Kerala in Ernakulam.

Following her recent victory in Bhutan, Yajik took to Instagram to reflect on her journey, acknowledging the disappointment of returning without a medal last year but emphasizing her unwavering focus and determination this time around. She dedicated her medals to the country, her home state, her coach, and herself—while hinting that this is only the beginning, with more competitions on the horizon.
Earlier this year, in April, she had also secured a silver medal in the women’s sports physique category at the 13th Federation Cup held in Goa—one of her biggest milestones leading up to the South Asian triumph.
