As India celebrates it’s 72nd Republic Day and celebrations were underway across the country, the Indian High Commission in Singapore too celebrated India’s Republic Day in a private ceremony on Tuesday. The Indian High Commissioner in Singapore, P.Kumaran unfurled the national flag while maintaining social distancing amidst COVID-19 times.
There were limited invitees pegged at 50, making it a small ceremony to commemorate India’s Republic Day. The ceremony also had a live steaming for the members of the Indian community in Singapore.
The South-East Asian country of Singapore has a sizeable Indian population. As of June 2020, according to Statista, there are 362.77 thousand Indians in Singapore, being third in population size after Chinese and Malays.
