India’s young opener Yashasvi Jaiswal has added another feather to his cap by being named in TIME magazine’s prestigious “TIME100 Next” list, which recognises emerging global leaders and influencers shaping the future in their fields.
The 23-year-old left-hander shared the news with fans on social media, writing: “What a Time to witness! I am honoured to be recognised in the 2025 #TIME100NEXT list alongside leaders shaping the future across industries. It reminds me how far I’ve come and how much further I want to go.”

Jaiswal’s recognition comes on the back of an extraordinary rise in international cricket. Earlier in August, he topped Wisden’s list of ‘The Best 40 Young Players in the World’, which featured nine Indian cricketers, including another compatriot in the top 10.
Since making his debut, Jaiswal has quickly established himself as the backbone of India’s Test line-up, amassing 2,209 runs in 24 matches at a stellar average of 50.20, with six centuries and 12 half-centuries. His exploits overseas — 391 runs in Australia and 411 in England, both with centuries — have cemented his reputation as India’s next all-conditions batter in the mould of Virat Kohli.
Jaiswal has also showcased his versatility across formats. In T20 internationals, he has scored 723 runs in 23 games at a strike rate of 164-plus, with one century and five fifties. While his ODI career is yet to take off — he has played just one match so far — his List-A average of 52.62 has fuelled expectations that he could seamlessly transition into the 50-over format, particularly when senior opener Rohit Sharma eventually calls time on his career.
In franchise cricket too, Jaiswal has been a standout performer for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL, tallying 2,166 runs in 67 games at a strike rate above 152, including two centuries and 15 fifties.
