Harshandeep Singh, a 20-year-old Indian-origin man working as a security guard, was shot dead in a shocking act of violence inside an Edmonton apartment building on Friday night.
The Edmonton Police Service (EPS) has arrested two suspects, Evan Rain and Judith Saulteaux, both 30 years old, and charged them with first-degree murder in connection with the killing.
The incident occurred around 12:30 a.m. on Friday when police received reports of gunfire inside the apartment complex on 107 Avenue. Upon arrival, officers found Singh’s body lying unresponsive in a stairwell. Despite immediate efforts to provide first aid, Singh succumbed to his injuries after being rushed to the hospital.
Disturbing CCTV footage of the attack has surfaced online, capturing the gruesome sequence. The video reportedly shows one individual from the three-member gang pushing Singh down the stairs while another assailant fires at him from behind. Police have confirmed the recovery of a weapon used in the crime and announced that an autopsy will be conducted on Monday to determine further details about the killing.

This is the second murder of an Indian-origin individual in Canada within a week. Earlier, on December 1, Gurasis Singh, a 22-year-old first-year business management student at Lambton College in Ontario, was fatally stabbed by his housemate. The accused in the case, 36-year-old Crossley Hunter, has been charged with second-degree murder.
