Toronto: A 32-year-old man has been arrested nearly seven months after his Indian-origin partner, Himanshi Khurana, was found murdered in Toronto.
Khurana, 30, was discovered dead inside a residence on December 20. Police described the case as an “act of intimate partner violence” and identified her partner, Abdul Ghafoori, as a suspect in the first-degree murder case.
Toronto Police said Ghafoori was arrested on Friday at a Toronto airport. Officers from the fugitive squad and homicide unit worked with national and international police services to bring him back to Canada, although authorities did not specify the country he had been in.
Khurana was reported missing from the Strachan Avenue and Wellington Street West area at around 10:41 pm on December 19. Police launched a search and found her body inside a house in the same area at around 6:30 am the following day.
The incident was recorded as Toronto’s 40th homicide case of 2025. Following the initial investigation, police classified her death as a homicide.
