The long-awaited construction of the Signature bridge is finally set to end this October. The five-year-long delay has indeed given a positive response to the public works department. Rs. 231 crore additional funds are being released to the Delhi Tourism and Transportation Development Corporation for constructing the bridge.
The delay of the bridge has put a lot of traffic load of Bhajanpura and Ghaziabad on the Wazirabad bridge. With the increasing daily traffic, it is impossible for the ailing bridge to take any further load as already, major traffic jams are caused due to the diverting routes.
With the onset of the Signature Bridge, there will be a drastic decrease in the travel time between North and North East Delhi and the traffic movement on the Ring Road will see an improvement. Initially, the project was supposed to launch on Commonwealth Games in 2010 which was rescheduled for 2013.
The bridge will be 675 metres long and 35.2 metres wide. The pylon is already made and is 154 metres high.
