The upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 fixture between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Mumbai Indians (MI), scheduled for May 11, has been officially relocated to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. The match, originally slated to be held at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamshala, has been shifted due to heightened security concerns following India’s military offensive, Operation Sindoor.
The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), in a media advisory, confirmed the venue change: “IPL Match No. 61 between Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians, originally scheduled to be played in Dharamshala on Sunday, May 11, has been relocated to the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.”
Despite the venue shift, the match will maintain its original 3:30 PM IST start time. The decision comes in the wake of a major cross-border strike conducted by the Indian Armed Forces earlier this week. Dubbed Operation Sindoor, the operation saw precision strikes on nine terror infrastructure sites — four in Pakistan (Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sarjal, and Mehmoona Joya) and five in Pakistan-occupied Jammu and Kashmir (PoJK).
The operation was launched in response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir, which resulted in significant casualties. Dharamshala, known for its picturesque setting, is also situated relatively close to the India-Pakistan border.
