The clash between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals has been abruptly called off due to security concerns. The match, which was scheduled to take place at the Punjab Cricket Association Stadium, was cancelled shortly before it was set to begin.
According to reports, the Indian Premier League (IPL) authorities instructed stadium officials to immediately evacuate the venue as a precautionary measure. Punjab Kings (PBKS) captain Shreyas Iyer won the toss and opted to bat first against Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala on Thursday.
This comes after the Pakistan Army launched a coordinated assault involving artillery shelling and drone attacks targeting the Jammu region. The Indian Armed Forces responded swiftly and decisively, engaging both ground and aerial threats.
Earlier, openers Priyansh Arya and Prabhsimran Singh stitched together a scintillating 122-run partnership — the joint-highest for any wicket for Punjab Kings against Delhi Capitals in IPL history.
Their explosive opening stand matched the previous record set by Mayank Agarwal and KL Rahul in 2021 at the Wankhede Stadium, highlighting the duo’s dominant form before the match was halted. Priyansh and Prabhsimran gave PBKS a powerful start, entertaining a packed stadium with aggressive stroke play and sharp running between the wickets.
