The Israeli military on Saturday claimed it had eliminated a senior Iranian commander linked to military coordination with Palestinian militant group Hamas in a precision airstrike on Qom, a city located south of Tehran.
According to a statement issued by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), fighter jets struck and killed Saeed Izadi, identified as the commander of the Palestine Corps of Iran’s Quds Force. The IDF described Izadi as a key liaison between the Iranian regime and Hamas.

The Quds Force, an elite wing of Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), is responsible for foreign operations and is known for its strategic partnerships with militant groups across the region. IDF officials alleged that Izadi played a pivotal role in supporting Hamas units operating from Lebanon and was instrumental in efforts to rebuild the group’s military capabilities in Gaza.
The strike on Izadi follows Israel’s broader military offensive launched last week targeting Iranian military infrastructure, air defense systems, and nuclear facilities. The escalation, according to Israeli sources, was prompted by intelligence reports suggesting that Tehran was moving closer to developing nuclear weapons.

In the same briefing, Israeli officials also confirmed the deaths of two other high-ranking Iranian figures in overnight strikes: Behnam Shahriyari, head of Unit 190 of the Quds Force, was reportedly responsible for facilitating arms and financial transfers to proxy groups including Hezbollah. “He did for Hezbollah what Izadi did for Hamas,” a senior Israeli official said on condition of anonymity.
Aminpour Judaki, head of the IRGC’s drone unit, was identified as a leading figure behind multiple UAV attacks targeting Israeli territory.
Tensions between Israel and Iran flared up last week when Israeli forces launched a broad offensive, targeting Iranian air defence systems, military figures, and nuclear sites. The campaign, according to Israeli officials, was in response to intelligence suggesting Tehran was advancing toward nuclear weapons capability. Iran’s response to the Israeli attacks has included missile strikes that, as of June 21, have left 25 people dead in Israel, according to local authorities.
