Jr NTR’s ‘Devara’ Secures UA Certification Amid Key Modifications

Date:

Jr NTR’s ‘Devara’ Secures UA Certification Amid Key Modifications Tollywood star Jr NTR’s much-anticipated Devara: Part 1 is all set to hit theatres on September 27, 2024, and fans couldn’t be more excited! Directed by Koratala Siva, this pan-India action drama has already stirred up a lot of buzz, especially after the release of its theatrical trailer. The film promises high-octane action sequences and a gripping storyline against the coastal lands. Jr NTR portrays dual roles as father and son in this multi-generational saga.

CBFC’s Recommendations: Four Major Changes

While the trailer received an overwhelmingly positive response, the film’s road to release wasn’t without a few bumps. The Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) recently awarded Devara a UA certificate after suggesting four significant cuts. As per reports, three of these changes were related to violent scenes. One of the altered scenes involved a man kicking his wife, while another depicted a son kicking his mother, both of which were slightly modified to comply with CBFC guidelines. Additionally, a five-second shot showing a man’s body hanging from a sword was removed.

The fourth cut wasn’t related to violence but to a CGI sequence featuring Jr NTR riding a shark. The CBFC instructed the filmmakers to add a CGI disclaimer to clarify that the shark was computer-generated. Despite these modifications, fans needn’t worry about the film losing its impact.

This film is especially important for Jr NTR, as it marks his first solo release after the globally successful RRR, where he shared the screen with Ram Charan. At the trailer launch event in Mumbai, Jr NTR confessed to feeling a bit of pressure. “I am very nervous because this is my next film after RRR. RRR was with my co-actor Ram Charan, but this is my solo release after six years, so there is a lot of nervousness that is building. But I am very happy to launch the trailer of Devara in the city of Mumbai,” he admitted.

Devara also stars Bollywood bigwigs Saif Ali Khan and Janhvi Kapoor, along with Jr NTR, who are making Telugu debuts. Janhvi Kapoor, in particular, has created quite a stir with her first collaboration with Jr NTR, adding to the film’s anticipation. Saif Ali Khan is also expected to deliver a powerful performance, raising the film’s expectations. Devara even features the talented Ramya Krishna in a pivotal role, rounding out the ensemble cast.
