Kapil Sharma’s newly opened Kap’s Cafe in Surrey, British Columbia, came under attack late Wednesday night after unidentified gunmen opened fire on the building. The attackers reportedly arrived in a vehicle and fled the scene shortly after the firing. Fortunately, no casualties were reported.
Harjeet Singh Laddi, a wanted Khalistani terrorist, has claimed responsibility for the attack. Laddi, who is associated with the banned outfit Babbar Khalsa International (BKI), is listed as one of India’s most-wanted terrorists by the National Investigation Agency (NIA).
Laddi’s activities have been under scrutiny for several years. Along with his associate Kulbeer Singh, also known as Sidhu, Laddi has been accused of orchestrating the assassination of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) leader Prabhakar in Punjab’s Nangal region on April 13, 2024. The duo is also suspected of facilitating arms supply and funding terror operations aimed at targeted killings in India.
The NIA has placed a ₹10 lakh reward for credible information leading to Laddi’s capture. In 2023, Punjab Police had dismantled a BKI-linked terror module in Ludhiana connected to Laddi and another BKI operative.
