Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif has been named the Maldives’ Global Brand Ambassador for Tourism, marking a significant step in expanding the country’s international tourism reach. The Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC) made the statement a few weeks before Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi was due to visit the island nation.
One of the most well-known actors in Indian cinema, Kaif, thanked everyone and said she was “honoured” to represent the Maldives and its famous travel brand, “Sunny Side of Life.” She expressed her enthusiasm for introducing the globe to the Maldives’ top-notch travel experiences by calling the island nation “the pinnacle of luxury and natural beauty a somewhere where elegance meets tranquillity.”
In its official statement, the MMPRC, also known as Visit Maldives, commended Kaif’s worldwide impact and called her “a globally recognised icon, a remarkable performer, and an award-winning entrepreneur.” The company emphasised that Kaif was the ideal choice to represent the nation’s tourism initiatives due to her lively personality and strong connection with viewers worldwide.
The news coincides with the growing diplomatic ties between the Maldives and India. Early in 2024, relations were tense, but in recent months, there has been a resurgence of collaboration and cross-cultural interaction. It is anticipated that Prime Minister Modi’s next visit will strengthen this expanding alliance.
