India bowled out West Indies for 248 in their first innings, with Kuldeep Yadav claiming a five-wicket haul to spearhead a commanding performance at Arun Jaitley Stadium. Enforcing the follow-on, India put the visitors under immense pressure in the second Test of the series.
Trailing by 97 runs, West Indies showed resilience in their second innings, reaching 173/2 by stumps on Day 3. John Campbell (87)* and Shai Hope (66)* were unbeaten at the crease, anchoring a partnership that gave the visitors some hope against India’s formidable attack.
Campbell and Hope began the final session with intent, launching sixes against Ravindra Jadeja and Washington Sundar and steadily building their stand. Campbell reached his half-century off 69 balls with six fours and two sixes, while Hope ended a 31-inning wait for a Test fifty, reaching 50 off 80 balls. Their partnership of 83* became the highest for any wicket for West Indies in seven Tests in 2025.
In the first innings, the Windies struggled against India’s spin duo. Kuldeep’s 5/82, complemented by Ravindra Jadeja’s 3/46, ensured the visitors could not build a substantial total. Lower-order contributions from Khary Pierre (23) and Anderson Phillip (24*) were insufficient to prevent India from taking control.
India, after winning the toss, opted to bat first and posted 518/5 declared. Opening stand contributions from Yashasvi Jaiswal and KL Rahul set the tone, followed by a 193-run partnership with Sai Sudharsan (87) and a 74-run stand with Shubman Gill (129*). Jaiswal was eventually run out for a marathon 175-ball 258, while Gill recorded his fifth century of the year, reinforcing India’s dominant position.
