Quito: A large-magnitude landslide struck Ecuador on Sunday which left six people dead and 30 others missing as per the information from the authorities.
As per a Reuters report, the large magnitude landslide occurred in the centre of the country in the city of Banos de Agua Santa, the Ecuadorean Secretariat for Risk Management said. Ecuadorian’s minister of public works Roberto Luque on his social media handle X wrote “My solidarity with all the families that have been affected”.

Central and South America was swept across by heavy rainstorms which were caused by low-pressure waves on Sunday, with many countries warning of increased risk of landslides, rock falling and flooding.
Ecuador’s civil protection service issued a red alert owing to severe rains throughout the small country, and the Ministry of Communications, Infrastructure, and Housing of neighbouring Guatemala reported that numerous airlines had rerouted flights.
