Mumbai: Indian cricket star Hardik Pandya publicly called out paparazzi for invading the privacy of his girlfriend, Mahieka Sharma, after a video filmed from an inappropriate angle surfaced on social media.
The incident reportedly took place at a restaurant in Mumbai’s Bandra, where Mahieka was walking down a staircase when photographers recorded her from what Hardik described as a “disrespectful” angle.
Reacting strongly, Hardik took to Instagram to express his disappointment, saying that while he understands and accepts the constant scrutiny that comes with public life, this particular incident “crossed a line.” He stressed that no woman deserves to be filmed or portrayed in such a manner and slammed the attempt to turn an ordinary moment into what he termed “cheap sensationalism.”
Calling for accountability, Hardik urged photographers to respect personal boundaries and show basic decency, underlining that dignity should not be compromised, irrespective of a person’s public status.
Acknowledging the work of media professionals, the cricketer made a pointed appeal for sensitivity, saying, “Not everything needs to be captured. Not every angle needs to be taken. Let’s keep humanity in this game.”
