Lok Sabha Polls 2024: Shashi Tharoor Wins Thiruvananthapuram After Tight Race With Rajeev Chandrasekhar

New Delhi: In a closely contested battle, Congress incumbent MP Shashi Tharoor has secured victory in Kerala’s Thiruvananthapuram Lok Sabha seat, defeating BJP’s Rajeev Chandrasekhar. Tharoor won the seat by a margin of 16,077 votes, according to ECI data.

Reacting to his electoral victory, Shashi Tharoor expressed gratitude for being elected for the fourth time, promising to honor the trust placed in him by serving the constituents diligently. Drawing an analogy to the ongoing World T20 cricket tournament, Tharoor described the hard-fought election as a “super over,” highlighting the significant challenge posed by the BJP.

On the other hand, Rajeev Chandrasekhar, while expressing disappointment over his loss, reaffirmed his dedication to the people of Thiruvananthapuram.

Thiruvananthapuram recorded a 66.46 percent voter turnout in the polls held on April 26. On the national stage, the latest trends show the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) led by the BJP leading in 296 seats, while the INDIA bloc is ahead in 228 seats.
