Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has surpassed Jeff Bezos to become world’s second richest person as his net worth reached $206.2 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. With this, Mark Zuckerberg topped the $205.1 billion net worth of former Amazon CEO and president Jeff Bezos. However, Zuckerberg is still trailing behind Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, by approximately $50 billion.
Owning a 13% share in Meta, Zuckerberg’s personal fortune has surged by an impressive $78 billion in 2024, pushing him up four ranks in the global billionaire standings. According to the Bloomberg Index, his wealth growth has been unmatched by any of the 500 richest individuals tracked by the list this year.
Meta’s stock has experienced a sharp increase of nearly 70% since the start of 2024, which has significantly boosted Zuckerberg’s net worth. This spike in investor confidence is partly driven by the company’s focus on artificial intelligence, which it claims has been instrumental in boosting its sales.
At present, Meta is heavily investing in virtual and augmented reality, though its core advertising business continues to thrive. Just last week, the company launched its Orion AR glasses, which were met with favorable reviews from critics.
