Mexican Influencer Shot Dead During Livestream In Sinaloa

New Delhi: Mexican influencer Cesar Gastelum was shot dead while livestreaming on social media outside a restaurant in Culiacán, Sinaloa. The 25-year-old content creator, who had over 600,000 TikTok followers, was filming with two friends as part of a challenge when two people on a motorcycle approached the group.

According to videos circulating online, the motorcycle rider allegedly opened fire on Gastelum. The livestream ended abruptly and was later removed from the platform. Local police later confirmed his death.

Authorities said one of the investigation angles involves Gastelum’s social media posts. “The lines of investigation include numerous publications, some of which refer to a criminal group,” Mexico’s Security Cabinet posted on X.

Police and soldiers reached the scene while forensic teams collected evidence. Officials noted that the district has witnessed prolonged cartel-related violence, and several influencers have been killed in Sinaloa in recent years.
