The decision to honor Siraj with this prestigious role follows a July announcement by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. In the wake of India’s T20 World Cup victory in Barbados, Siraj’s remarkable performance on the international stage earned him both a residential plot and a government job offer. Revanth Reddy hailed Siraj’s cricketing achievements, calling him an example of “outstanding talent” who has brought immense pride to the state and the nation.
During a session in the state assembly, the Chief Minister spoke at length about Siraj’s impressive career, detailing the Cabinet’s decision to appoint him to a Group-I position despite the usual educational requirements. Although a degree is typically mandatory for such a role, an exception was made for Siraj, who had completed his intermediate (12th class) education.
Mohammed Siraj, a key figure in India’s cricket team, has consistently delivered standout performances since his debut in 2017. With 163 wickets in 89 international matches, he has established himself as a premier fast bowler.
