Seth, who is also a BJP Member of Parliament from Ranchi, arrived in Moscow on Thursday. He was welcomed by Indian Ambassador to Russia Vinay Kumar and Russian Defence Ministry official Major General Oleg Moiseyev.
As part of his engagements, the Minister held a bilateral meeting with Russian Deputy Defence Minister Colonel General Alexander Fomin. The two sides discussed avenues to further bolster military and military-technical cooperation—key pillars of the longstanding India-Russia defence partnership.
Seth also paid homage to World War II soldiers by laying a wreath at a memorial in Moscow, honouring their sacrifice in the war that shaped the modern geopolitical order.
Notably, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was originally slated to attend the event but reportedly cancelled his trip due to heightened security concerns following India’s launch of ‘Operation Sindoor’ against terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir. In light of these developments, Seth’s visit served as a vital diplomatic representation for India at a time of both commemoration and regional military sensitivity.
