Netflix Joins Forces With Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms For Multi-Year Creative Deal

Date:

In a landmark move for Indian entertainment, streaming giant Netflix has announced a long-term creative partnership with Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Ltd., signaling a significant push to develop original Indian content across films and series for global audiences.

The collaboration aims to blend Netflix’s global platform with the storytelling expertise of Balaji Telefilms — a household name in Indian entertainment helmed by Padma Shri awardee and International Emmy winner Ekta Kapoor. The companies revealed the partnership through social media posts on Saturday, with further confirmation from leading entertainment publication Variety.

The strategic deal covers content development across multiple formats, with a focus on streaming-first narratives. Both companies have previously worked together on critically acclaimed titles such as Pagglait, Kathal, Jaane Jaan, and Dolly Kitty Aur Woh Chamakte Sitare, setting a successful precedent for this expanded alliance.

An untitled series is already in the advanced stages of development and is expected to be among the first of several projects under the new collaboration. These projects will be produced under the banner of Balaji Telefilms Ltd., including its film and digital arms — Balaji Motion Pictures and Balaji Telefilms Digital.
