The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has confirmed that the 2025 Oscar nominations will be announced on Thursday, January 23. Initially scheduled for January 17, the announcement had been delayed several times due to the wildfires in Los Angeles.
The nominations will be revealed at 7:00 PM IST during a live-streamed ceremony hosted by actors and comedians Rachel Sennott and Bowen Yang. The event will take place at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater, where Sennott and Yang will announce nominees in all 24 Oscar categories. It will be streamed globally on platforms like Oscar.com, Oscars.org, and the Academy’s digital channels.
The ceremony will also be broadcast on ABC’s Good Morning America and will be available for streaming on ABC News Live, Disney+, and Hulu.
While the original date for the announcement was January 17, it was pushed to January 19 due to the wildfires that affected many Oscar voters and caused significant damage in Los Angeles. Consequently, the Academy extended the voting period and adjusted the announcement schedule, with the final date set for January 23. The Oscar Nominees Luncheon was canceled as well.
Despite these setbacks, the 97th Academy Awards will proceed on March 2 at the Dolby Theatre, with Conan O’Brien hosting the event.
